Where Love Takes Root: Inside the Royal Wedding Chapel’s One-of-a-Kind Magic

From a 100-year-old tree growing through the floor to a team devoted to every “I do,” Royal Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas is redefining what it means to say forever.

In the heart of Las Vegas, far from the flashing lights and hurried crowds, a centuries-old tree stretches its limbs through the roof of a white-walled chapel. Sunlight filters through its leaves, scattering golden light across rows of white chairs and marble floors. Couples walk down the aisle beneath its branches, promising each other forever in the quiet, living presence of something that has stood the test of time.

For Tenneal Payne, the Chapel’s Wedding Manager, that tree represents everything the Royal Wedding Chapel stands for: history, resilience, and love that keeps growing no matter what life throws its way. “It’s over 100 years old,” she says with a smile. “They actually built the chapel around it. We’re even working to make it a historical landmark.”

The Royal Wedding Chapel isn’t just another Las Vegas wedding venue. It’s a story of transformation, community, and the kind of heartfelt dedication that turns a simple ceremony into a lifelong memory.

From California Dreams to Vegas Vows

Before the marble floors and stained glass windows, before the thousands of “I do’s,” there was a young woman with a love for celebration. Tenneal grew up in California, where her mother and grandmother made wedding cakes and birthday creations that filled every family gathering with laughter and frosting. “I grew up doing parties,” she recalls. “My mom and grandma did cakes for every occasion, so I think that’s where I got the love for it all.”

That passion led her to study weddings and event management, earning her certification in 2008. Then came the pandemic, halting life plans everywhere. Once the world began to reopen, she decided it was time to take a leap. “It was either stay in California or try something new,” she says. “I started applying in both states, and then I got the call from Vegas. A few days later, I got the job, and I was like, ‘Well, I guess I’m moving to Vegas!’”

She arrived in 2021, stepping into a venue with history and potential but in need of serious love. “When I first saw it, I was like, wow,” she laughs. “The floors were black, the doors were black, even the pole in the middle of the room was black. It didn’t say ‘wedding.’ It looked more like a club.”

Then came Petra, a German entrepreneur and designer who saw beauty where others saw chaos. With her European flair and dedication, she led a full renovation. “She turned it into something stunning,” Tenneal says. “White marble floors, stained glass doors, it was a total transformation.”

Rebirth, Renewal, and a New Vision

Like the ancient tree that anchors its walls, Royal Wedding Chapel has survived change after change. The original owner’s vision evolved when new leadership took over in 2024, and the team began rebuilding once again, this time with a renewed sense of purpose.

“New ownership came in July,” says Tenneal. “It’s been a lot of moving parts and a lot of hard work, but our goal is to make it even better than before. We want to bring back everything that made couples fall in love with this place and then take it even further.”

This spirit of resilience is part of what drives her. “This place just feels like home,” she says. “I’ve worked at other event venues, but I came back because I believe in this chapel. It has so many memories and so much heart. I want people to feel that again when they walk through the doors.”

Lessons from Love and Logistics

Ask anyone in the wedding business, and they’ll tell you it’s not all roses and champagne. Behind every perfect moment are long nights, tight deadlines, and a whole lot of people management.

For Tenneal, one of her biggest lessons came the hard way. “Don’t promise brides anything,” she laughs knowingly. “I had to learn that early. Now I say, ‘Let me look into that and get back to you.’ It saves everyone a lot of stress. You never want to overpromise, especially when emotions are high. Brides remember everything you say!”

That wisdom, paired with her empathy, has shaped how she leads her team today. “I know how stressful it gets. I’ve seen people have panic attacks before walking down the aisle. That’s why I tell my staff, slow it down. Take a breath. We’re not an assembly line.”

At Royal Wedding Chapel, couples are treated like family, not just another slot on the calendar. It’s that personal touch—patience, kindness, humor—that makes the difference. “We want people to feel at home here,” she says. “It’s their day, their love story. We just help them tell it.”

More Than a Venue

What makes Royal Wedding Chapel stand apart isn’t just its 100-year-old tree or crystal-lit halls; it’s the diversity and inclusivity that define its spirit. “We have a huge LGBTQ+ community here,” says Tenneal. “And I always get the same feedback, they thank us for not making it weird or awkward. We’re like, for what? You’re a loving couple getting married. That’s all that matters.”

The chapel houses multiple spaces tailored to every kind of celebration. There’s the Tree Chapel, the heart of the venue, with its organic canopy and serene atmosphere; the Crystal Chapel, a more intimate space for 30 guests or fewer; and the Grand Event Hall, which seats over 200 for receptions and large gatherings. “People don’t expect it when they drive by,” says Tenneal. “From the outside, it looks small, but once they walk in, they’re like, ‘Oh wow, this is beautiful.’”

In recent years, the team has expanded its offerings to include full-service event planning, photography, and even in-house catering. “We have a chef on staff now,” Tenneal shares proudly. “That’s new. Before, we had to rely on outside vendors. Now we can make everything happen right here.”

“We Don’t Say No”

Perhaps the best way to understand the heart of Royal Wedding Chapel is through one of Tenneal’s favorite stories.

“Someone once came to us and said they wanted to marry themselves,” she recalls with a grin. “Some people might laugh at that, but we didn’t. I asked the owner, and she said, ‘If the minister’s willing and that’s what the person wants, why not?’ That’s what we’re about. We don’t say no unless it’s truly outside our means or values. Otherwise, we make it happen.”

It’s that “yes” mentality rooted in compassion, creativity, and genuine care that makes couples from around the world choose this chapel. From nervous elopements to lavish destination weddings, every couple is met with the same warmth. “We try to figure out what best fits each couple,” says Tenneal. “If it’s possible, we’ll do it. We’re here to celebrate love in all its forms.”

Growing in the Digital Age

In today’s online world, visibility is everything. But even with its stunning interiors and glowing reviews, Royal Wedding Chapel has faced its fair share of digital challenges. “We’re working to get back on the first page of Google,” says Tenneal candidly. “Right now, if you search Vegas chapels, we don’t pop up right away, but if you search ‘Royal,’ we do. So we’re focusing on that.”

Her strategy? Embrace social media with full force. “I used to barely post,” she admits. “My boss pushed me to get more consistent. And she was right. Once I started posting daily and scheduling content, I saw a huge increase in engagement. TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, they’ve been great for us.”

The chapel’s TikTok account, @royalweddingchapel25, and Instagram account of the same name have both been gaining traction. Their Facebook page, Royal Wedding Chapel, remains one of the most active wedding venue communities in Las Vegas, with some older pages boasting millions of followers. “We’re rebuilding the online presence,” says Tenneal. “But I can already feel it turning around. People are starting to find us again.”

Looking Ahead: Love on the Rise

Tenneal’s goals for the coming year are crystal clear. “I want to see this place booming,” she says, eyes bright with determination. “When I first started, we had a reception every single month, then every weekend. I want to bring that back, five or six weddings a day if possible.”

It’s not just about numbers, though. It’s about energy, the sound of laughter echoing through the halls, the sight of confetti catching in the sunlight, the feeling of joy that fills the air when someone says, “I do.”

“I just want this place to be alive again,” she says. “To see all the chapels booked, the event hall full, couples celebrating everywhere you look. That’s my vision.”

A Place Where Every Love Story Belongs

After everything, pandemic uncertainty, ownership transitions, and digital challenges, the Royal Wedding Chapel still stands tall, its roots deep and its branches reaching upward. Like the tree at its heart, it continues to grow, adapt, and flourish.

“This place is special,” says Tenneal softly. “It’s where love feels real. It’s where people can be themselves, no matter who they are or who they love.”

For couples searching for a space that feels like home, Royal Wedding Chapel is more than just a venue. It’s a celebration of love in its purest, most enduring form.
