Built on Trust, Backed by Science

How one home inspector’s lifelong curiosity and care are protecting families from costly surprises and hidden dangers.

When Rick Jackson steps into a house, he doesn’t just see walls, wiring, and plumbing. He sees stories. The echoes of the people who lived there, the dreams of those hoping to make it their own, and the small, silent details that tell the truth about a property.

“I inspect every house like it’s my own,” he says with quiet conviction. “If I were living here, how would I feel? What would I want to know?”

That mindset has guided Jackson through more than two decades in building science, from flipping houses and managing maintenance operations to now running two growing ventures: Jackson Inspections and Las Vegas Mold Testing. Together, they form a one-two punch of precision, integrity, and care — protecting homeowners from both financial pitfalls and invisible health hazards.

From Fixing Homes to Protecting Them

Before he was known for spotting the tiniest crack in a foundation or a hint of moisture behind drywall, Rick Jackson was hands-on in nearly every corner of the construction world.

“I’ve worked on every type of house,” he recalls. “Mobile homes, log cabins, industrial warehouses, you name it.”

That deep, hard-earned experience gave him a front-row seat to how buildings live, breathe, and eventually break down. But about five years ago, while working for a handyman company, Jackson met a home inspector whose work sparked something new.

“I realized I could do more good as an inspector than just fixing one or two things at a time,” he says. “This way, I could help people make smarter decisions about the biggest investment they’ll ever make.”

So he pivoted, channeling two decades of construction and maintenance know-how into a full-time mission: ensuring buyers and homeowners truly understand what’s happening beneath the surface.

What began as a small operation in Nevada has now grown across Southern California, Utah, Arizona, and Las Vegas, serving families who want peace of mind before they sign on the dotted line.

Building a Business Around Care

In a world of quick flips and cheap quotes, Jackson has chosen a slower, steadier path, one built on relationships. His approach is personal, educational, and deeply human.

“Everyone can have the right certifications or training,” he explains, “but not everyone can make someone feel comfortable when they think something’s wrong with their home.”

He laughs as he tells the story of anxious clients panicking over a leaking outdoor faucet. “They see water dripping and think it’s thousands of dollars in damage,” he says. “But then I tell them, ‘Relax, it’s a five-dollar part and a ten-minute fix.’”

Moments like that show what makes Jackson different. He doesn’t just deliver a report. He translates. He reassures. He teaches. His clients don’t walk away afraid; they walk away informed.

“I’m not here just to take your money,” he says. “I’m here to make your life better after the inspection. That means explaining what’s wrong, why it matters, and how it can be fixed, not just leaving you with a list of problems.”

That philosophy has earned Jackson an almost entirely referral-based business. “Doing a good job,” he says, “has done way more for me than marketing ever could.”

The Science Behind the Service

At Jackson Inspections, no corner is overlooked. Every inspection includes FLIR thermal imaging, moisture detection, and a meticulous assessment from roof to foundation. He and his team also provide pre-drywall and roof inspections, giving buyers, builders, and homeowners a complete understanding of a property’s health.

“Ultimately, a home is the most expensive thing most people will ever buy,” Jackson says. “I just want to make sure they’re getting their money’s worth.”

But lately, he’s been diving deeper into a new challenge, one that most homeowners don’t think about until it’s too late.

Why Mold Matters More Than You Think

The idea for Las Vegas Mold Testing came from Jackson’s growing awareness that hidden water damage wasn’t just a structural concern; it was a health risk.

“Mold is highly underrated,” he says. “Most people ignore it until it affects them. My goal is to educate people about how their homes actually work, where water intrusion starts, and how to prevent those situations that make mold thrive.”

That focus on education is leading to an expansion of his services. In the next year, Jackson plans to roll out certified environmental testing, including mycotoxin urine testing for humans and pets, a groundbreaking step toward linking home health and personal wellness.

He’s also developing a YouTube channel called Score Science, where he’ll break down inspection scores, explain building issues, and offer practical advice on home maintenance. “This is where we’ll teach,” he says. “People deserve to understand what’s going on in their homes.”

Lessons from the Field

Even with two growing businesses and a reputation built on trust, Jackson admits the path hasn’t been without hurdles.

“The hardest part right now is scaling,” he says. “We’ve expanded across four states, and finding quality inspectors who really care is a challenge. Certifications are one thing, but I need people who believe in the mission of protecting families, not just clocking hours.”

Still, he’s not one to compromise. Quality comes first, even if that means slower growth.

He’s also learned another tough truth along the way. “Cheapest isn’t always best,” he says firmly. “I’ve had clients hire inspectors for $250 and then call me a few months later when the problems start showing up. Once they experience the level of detail and service we provide, they understand the value.”

For Jackson, that moment when clients see the difference is worth more than any marketing campaign. “Once they get the service,” he says, “they see it. They feel it. They know.”

A Business the Community Trusts

Ask around Las Vegas or Southern California, and you’ll hear the same thing: Rick Jackson is the guy you call when you want it done right. Realtors recommend him. Homeowners trust him. And fellow contractors respect him for his honesty and precision.

“He’s calm when you’re panicking,” one client said recently. “He doesn’t just tell you what’s wrong; he tells you what’s possible.”

That reputation has turned Jackson Inspections into more than a service; it’s become a local ally. From first-time buyers to experienced investors, clients come back again and again for his blend of science, service, and sincerity.

As his reach expands through Las Vegas Mold Testing, Jackson hopes to bring the same integrity to an even broader audience, helping families across the Southwest protect not only their homes but their health.

Looking Ahead

The future looks busy for Rick Jackson. Over the next year, he plans to hire additional certified environmental testers, expand his footprint in the greater Las Vegas area, and launch nationwide testing programs through his upcoming online platform.

But even as the company grows, Jackson’s focus remains simple. “I just want people to live in homes that are safe, sound, and healthy,” he says. “If I can help make that happen, then I’m doing what I was meant to do.”

For him, it’s not about the number of inspections completed or the size of his service area. It’s about people, the families who trust him with the places they’ll build their lives.

That’s what keeps him showing up, flashlight in hand, ready to look beneath the surface.
